Dorsett's Story
After graduating from Farmington High in 1971, I attended what is now called San Juan College for two years, earning an Associates degree. I then went to New Mexico State University and earned a BA in Journalism and Mass Communications in 1975. Not wanting to make a living at that, I enrolled at the University of New Mexico Law School, graduating in 1979. Married in 1978 and had a daughter Christy in 1980, and a son Brian in 1982. They are both college graduates and doing well. Their mother and I divorced in 1991. My one minor [very minor] claim to fame was the publication of an essay on my child custody fight that was published in the July 4th 1994 issue of Newsweek Magazine in its My Turn Section. You can google dorsett.bennett, and will come up with a site. The essay did end up being published in four books on writing styles and gender issues. I practiced consumer bankruptcy and social security disability law in Roswell, NM & Lubbock Texas until 2008, then divorced and moved to Oregon for nearly two years. I could have gone on disability nearly a decade afterbefore I actually quit working. I met my Soul Mate Nancy, online in Janua...Expand for more
ry 2010, and have remarried and moved to Tampa.
I now play online, read a lot on my electronic reader, do the grocery shopping for a household with two grateful women, and write. I am working on a novel and screenplay in the same type of the Tony Hillerman mysteries; with the difference being that my protagonist is 1/2 Apache and 1/2 Jewish lawyer living in Roswell, NM in the 1990's. The title is An Apache Lawyer in Roswell. I am also doing some other general writing. See my Blog at dorsettbennett.Blogspot.com/ I plan on electronically self publishing four short stories by October 30, 2011, thru Smashwords.com. They will then be made available electronically on Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Kobe, and several other sites, One short story will be a lead in to my novel mentioned above; two will be erotic short stories, titled Tampa Bay Cabbie Chronicles #1 & #2 (with the intent that there will be others); and the 4th will be my Dog's story (A DogâÂÂs Tale) told from the POV (Point of View) of Sugar. Tampa Bay Cabbie Chronicles #2 will cost $0.99; the other 3 will be free [except on Amazon.com--where they charge a minimum of $0.99].
