After graduation, I went to work at Pontiac General Hospital, married Joel Smith (class of 63) and in 1966 our daughter, Joi, was born. Joel was killed in March of 1969 and I married my present husband, Neil, in 1973 - he was my next door neighbor!!!! In March of 1974, our daughter, Megan, was born and in August of 1974, we left Pontiac and moved to Annapolis, Maryland where Neil became a police officer. I worked as a secretary in a real estate office during the day and went to school three nights a week for medical assisting - it was a long 10 months!! After graduating, I worked in the lab at the local hospital then was asked to join a private lab run by the pathologists from the hospital - I loved learning how to run all the chemistry blood tests - since I had to work weekends, I decided to switch to a pediatrician's office and I worked there until July of 1987 - I then went to work as an office administrator for a dental practice and I was there until April of 2006 when I officially retired!!! Neil and I sold our home in Annapolis and had a new house built in Milford, DE - we have no sales tax here and our property taxes are minimal compared to what we were paying in Annapolis.
