Doug's Story
I was the Guy that was quiet and I was a member of the Edison First Aid and Rescue Squad # 1 with Wayne Miller, Jay Marino and George Cox. I would at times be seen with Duane Palaima, Dave Deluca, John Demaria, Al Hoover, Ray Slocum, John Petz and others. In 1972 I started playing in a few Rock Bands, I played Bass with Crossroads from Franklin Township we were together for about a year. I jammed with a neighbor of mine and started a new group called Silver Tears and eventually became Toyz. We played clubs and Bars for about 10 years, some of them Red Fox, Osprey, Stone Pony and also did a few Frat Parties for Rutgers. Moved out of Edison in 1974 got married in 1975 to a Beautiful women Arlene Mondi who at the time was the sister of our Drummer Roy. I moved to Monroe in 1977 and still played in the Band until my Daughter Deanne was born on 11/22/1982 and she owned my Heart and still does to this day. On July 29th 2006 I lost my Soul mate ...Expand for more
to Breast Cancer and I was lost for quite sometime. But eventually I picked my guitar once again and played every day for two years and actually I was granted the chance to play with my Nephew in a Band called Headtrip for two Gigs. It was like I won the Lottery, to actually get back on stage and stand side by side with someone that You Personally inspired to play and Oh Boy can he PLAY. If you ever get the opportunity to see a Band that he plays in called the Benjamins please do my Nephew is the Lead Guitar player and his Nick Name is Jimmy Fire head because of his Red hair and how Fast he can fly up and down the Neck of that Guitar. To everyone that has lost someone very close and dear to their Hearts you are NOT ALONE and you will move on But You Never Forget, I know I won't. I'm semi Retired now and keep my self busy by working out at the Gym 5 times a week I Ski in the Winter and Scuba Dive as many times I can at least 3 trips a year.
