One of the best, most rewarding things I ever did was to take training for telephone crisis counseling in 1983 from Listening Ear Crisis Center in East Lansing, MI. I volunteered there for about three years from '83 to '85. I'm still using the skills today that I learned over 40 years ago. I was a bouncer at B'Zar and at America's Cup for two years. I was one of the two thinnest bouncers on staff, but was it fun! While waiting lunch tables at the downtown Radisson Hotel one afternoon, I had the pleasure of waiting on the governor of Michigan, Governor James Blanchard. Nice guy. So was his bodyguard.
