Doug's Story
I've been involved in coordinating FHS reunions since 1976 and enjoy staying in contact with many alumni. I've also had the chance to get reacquainted with Franklin High as a substitute teacher the past 10 years. And would you believe I'm now a Franklin alderman.
In any event, we have a very special celebration planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Franklin High on Sept. 21 & 22, 2012. There will be a ceremony to open the cornerstone at FHS on Sat. Sept. 22, at 1 p.m. This is open to the public and alumni will have a chance to tour their alma mater after the ceremony.
Then on Saturday evening, there will be a dinner/dance at Tuckaway Country Club for all alumni who were students at FHS in the fall of 1962. Everyone from the classes of 1965, 1966 and 1967 should have received formal invitations in March. We're now entering July, so it's time to submit YO...Expand for more
UR RESERVATIONS.
We'll kick off the weekend with a cash bar reception at Root River Lanes at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21. From there a school bus will shuttle the alumni to the high school for the 7 p.m. homecoming game against Indian Trail Academy of Kenosha. Coach Bach will lead his alumni lettermen onto the field for pre-game introductions (do you still have your letter sweater?). DO NOT attempt to drive to the high school on your own unless you plan to be there an hour in advance. There are over 1,400 students at the school now and the past state champion Sabers draw a strong audience at all their football games.
I want to thank the committee members for their support: Judy Farchione-Gyuro, Judeen Nitz-Scherrer and Kathy Sell-Koplinski.
Now it's up to YOU to submit your reservations! There will never be another Franklin High celebration like this one!
