Doug's Story

Life well, lets see, my life has been too complicated to get into here. ive been married a "few" times and that does tend to make ones life a little complicated at times!! ive got three children, all in their 30's,married and sucessful.ive been married now for 10 years and have an 8 year old son who is the light of my life! he sure keeps me young! ive been an "over the road" trucker for over 35 years. ive seen this country from border to border and coast to coast and im about ready to retire soon. we own our home up here in northern michigan and have 10 acres of hard woods to hunt in. we snow mobile in the winter and cruise around lake michigan and lake charlevoix in our boat in the summer.we are going camping this summer at yellowstone national park and the bad lands of south dakota. life has sure been a roller coaster ride for me. ive had it all and lost it all more than once. i think ive finally got it right this time. life is good,my health is good, and i seem to have been forgivin for most of the dumb mistakes ive made. i seem to be on the right road and headed in the right direction!! it sure took long enough!! AN UPDATE---my son is now 10 and weve been to yellowstone. what an awesome trip we had. we took a whole month and dragged our travel trailer all the way and camped right in yellowstone park. im retired now and enjoying life to its fullest. were making plans to take our camper and visit alaska in 2009. were going to take the whole summer and s...Expand for more
ee it all!! here ive been a trucker all of my life and what do i do now that im retired? travel!! go figure!! lol ive just recently become active again with this classmates thing so i hope to hear from a few of my old classmates. no offense ment by the "old" comment!!! Another update!! We hooked up to our new travel trailer on June 6th, 2009 and headed up into Canada and headed toward Alaska VIA The Alaska Highway!! It's been a dream of mine to drive all the way to our 50th state. A dream come true for me. We traveled all over Alaska this past summer and stayed at various campgrounds in Tok, Fairbanks, Denali Nat. Park, Anchorage, Homer, Seward, and all over the Kenai Penninsula. We did stop in Dawson City, Yuknon Territory to pan for gold ofcourse, but no "pay dirt" just millions of mosquitoes. We saw 12 grizzlies and lost count of the black bears, moose, caribou, musk ox, bald eagles, big horn sheep, sea otters, and many more Alaskian wildlife. Caught 10 sock eye salmon too!! Had a bear within spittin distance fishin with me!!! No words can truely discribe all we saw, all we experiencd. The word "awesome" just doesn't do our summer vacation the proper justice. We had a total of 12 thousand miles on the trip odometer by the time we got back home. No problems at all either, not even a flat tire!! My Ford truck with the 7.3 liter diesel sure did the job for us. We got home just two weeks ago on August 22nd. Now back to reality.
