Douglas's Story
After Tottenville I went to Southampton College which I dropped out from after 3 semesters and moved to NH where I went to work for Byte magazine (the first computer magazine). I fell in love with magazine publishing from the start. That first job paid $4.00 an hour. I felt like a king. Finally I felt that I found what I was meant to do. I also got married to Virginia in 1987 and we had our first child Elise in 1992. Shortly after having Elise we moved to Charlotte NC to join a direct mail publisher who was looking to become a magazine publisher. d my piece of the business back to my partner in 2005 and retired to spend more time with my wife and children. My son Michael came along in 1994. I got to finally spend some real time with the people I love most. I had an incredible time during those years. Going to Australia and New Zealand with Elise and traveling up the east coast with Michael for a summer stopping at the best bass fishing lakes. Or being able to take the kids to school each morning. I even learned how to cook a little. And then Elise went off to George Washington in DC and Michael to Univ of N Florida and dad got bored. After much soul searching I decided to go back to school and become a nurse. I have worked at a treatment center for addicts and am now joining a long term care facility in Ponte Vedra. I had no idea that I was destined for this life and I have no idea what is in store for the future but I look forward to it.
