Douglas's Story
I've been married for 48 years to Rose-Ellen May. We have two grown daughters we're very proud of (I wish I'd had more children -- one of those surprises in life), two sons in law, and two grandchildren we dote on. I had a nice academic career that I miss sometimes, but we are retired & drawing down the social security trust fund in Carmel, IN (Roundabout City, USA--you can Google it), living near our our grandkids.

rof. Frankly I can't imagine being out in the real world. I'm Professor Emeritus (translation: old, retired fart) of Sociology and Anthropology at Winthrop University in South Carolina. Even though I think most profs are half mad and shouldn't be trusted with sharp instruments, I liked being around them, especially for poker and office football pools. I enjoy research (on historical homicide, on conservative religious movements). I sometimes enjoyed teaching -- if only more students would read the material! I didn't enjoy administration at all. I'm waiting for the restfulness retirement is supposed to bring.
