Throughout his career Douglas has worked in security operations and has developed a diverse background of experience in security operations across vertical business segments that today include ESRM Enterprise Security Risk Management. Having established a broad relationship base of end-users, executives and technology companies globally. This has benefited the companies that Douglas has been engaged due to the confidence he has built with the C-Suite and business unit executives that he has worked with by providing the information they required to make informed decisions. He also contributes the success of “B to B” relationships with security operational practices and use of technology as a force multiplier, rapid response and decision-making resource to mitigate risk, liability and the “Insider Threat”.
Douglas is a recognized Business Development contributor and Subject Matter Expert for Gaming Hospitality Operations for Security, Investigations and Surveillance, Retail, Distribution Center, Corporate Security and Financial Institutions. As the Executive Director of Security at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas where Douglas was recruited to resolved a security corruption matter under investigation by the LVMPD and Nevada GCB by eliminating the corruption and reorganizing the security department. Having also been a Director of Surveillance at The Mirage and Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Throughout his career, Douglas has been instrumental in the development of security, infrastructure and business continuity plans, surveillance, and investigation operations that are widely used in gaming, retail and corporate security today. A mentor to many of today’s leaders in retail and casinos throughout America. Having also been engaged with Kroll Associates a Security Management firm in their NYC and Boston Offices and with KPMG Litigation & Forensic Services in Boston. During his retail career he worked for Grand Central Department Stores, Neiman Marcus, Bullock’s, Macy’s and Broadway Department stores. Also, as a Principle of the Florence Group, LLC a Management Consultancy providing Security and Game Protection education; a VP of Strategic Operations with the eConnect™ team; a Business Development Director Globally for major video solution providers and the Vice-President of Security, Surveillance and Risk Management at the M Resort Spa Casino. Recognized in 2023 by the International Association of Certified Surveillance Professionals with their inaugural Lifetime Achievement award.
Douglas is frequently sought out for media interviews and has had many articles published in retail, gaming and security trade publications. He is an active volunteer leader within his community and the security industry, founding the ASIS International Standing Committee on Gaming Wagering Protection that provides an educational resource to the industry. He served as; Vice President of the ASIS International Foundation Board of Trustees; Vice President of Affiliate Membership for the International Masters of Gaming Law for over 10 years, and with DHS for their Commercial Facilities Sector Coordinating Council. Participating as a panelist for sponsored events in the US and internationally. “Keeping honest people honest” is his mission statement and he is a native of Las Vegas.
