Douglas's Story

Life I spent 7 years at UW after graduation and am now living and teaching in the Portland area. Woo! I'm finally making the big bucks! Despite the huge influx of money from teaching, I try to stay humble and live simply. I've managed to travel a bit since high school, getting over to Europe & Hong Kong, and I've taken several road trips throughout the western US. I've always wanted to go to Australia and I plan on doing that soon! College 7 wonderful years as a Husky! UW was the only college I applied to out of high school and it was the only grad school I applied to after getting my Bachelors. That might have been a little foolish, but I wouldn't have had it any other way (especially now that I work in Beaver and Duck count...Expand for more
ry)! GO DAWGS!!! Workplace My first two years teaching were at Central Linn High School. The students and staff were awesome and I can't think of a better place to have begun my teaching career. We had 4-day weeks and I was able to jump right into things that I couldn't have had I been in an urban district. The principal was outstanding and a pleasure to work for. The school board was run by idiots however, and I quickly made my exit after seeing how they treated some of my co-workers. I'm now teaching 7th grade math and science at French Prairie Middle School. I love it! It's a goofy age, but the kids are a blast to work with and the teachers on staff are great people! If all goes well, I plan on staying there for years to come.
