Douglas's Story

Life Moved to Dallas, TX in June 1982 after graduating from Central Michigan University with a piece of paper saying Business/Marketing Major. Married in 1986, found myself single again in 1989. Been self employed for the last 10 years, great feeling knowing someone cannot hand me a pink slip for reasons beyond my control. Have 6 neices and 2 nephews. Hope to retire by the age of 55. Gives me 10 more years to obtain that goal. School My biggest crush in H/S, won't mention her here as she may not approve but she knows who she is since we went out from my freshman year through my junior year. She was and probably still is a great person as we have not communicated in a few decades. Patience at that age was not one of my virtues. Had it been, we may still be together. Tom Stuit and Robert Vanderzwart were inspiring as they both taught students to manage time and to work smart not hard. If you were not organized, they got you organized in a relatively short period of time. Would I do H/S all over again? No way Jose. I would rather go to Disney World. I still own my first car that I drove in high school. 1969 Mercury Cougar Convertible, white with blue leather interior and black top...Expand for more
. Had I known back then what these things were going to do financially, I would have bought hundreds of them and tucked them away. Hindsight is always 20/20. College College, what an experience in itself. From roommates that were purely disgusting to all nighters and raising hell with buddies. I have to admit some of the best laxitives you could cut with a knife and fork were at the dorm cafeteria. Worked odd jobs off and on for extra cash, worked in factories during summer break so I could buy my books and supplies. Classes were rather entertaining at best and looking back not one of my professors would be worthy of a job offer (sorry guys and gals) but my colleagues respect me for integrity and for being brutally honest. Workplace Living in Dallas, TX since 1982 working in various levels of business management acquiring the skills to run my own successful preowned car business (currently in its 28th year). The only thing I can tell anyone entertaining the idea of starting their own business or venturing out on their own from the working for someone else rut, go for it, use your head and manage themselves and time wisely and always remember Hard Work Still Pays Well and always will.
