Douglas's Story

It was around March of 1966 when we moved to Wheelus. I was in the sixth grade. The grade school, at that time ,was in the building that the High school was in after 1967 war. When I went into Jr. Hi ,the school was on the other side of the Base and the High School was up the road a block or two. I not sure why they moved things around but they had moved everything around when we came back after being evacuated because of the 6 day war. What an exciting time that was. I had the best time with all of our friends and being so close to the Med. Tom Plunkett ,Clemmie Scott, Curtis Thornton, Wade Loudermilk , Chuck Jackson, Marty Fahey, Tony Gonzales, and so many more I can't remember them all. I moved from Colorado Springs in the summer after my Junior year. My dad was Air Force and retired in 1971. Our family moved to Spokane, Wa. In June 1971. That is where our extended family is from and where we spent our summers with our Grandparents. The visits were great and the area around here has so many things to do. e aren't very far from the Washington and Oregon Pacific coasts. I love it here but really hated changing High Schools in my Senior year. The kids here weren't as open for new kids as HHS was when we moved there in 1968. I might have had a chip on my shoulder for being uprooted in my Senior year . I often think about all of my friends I left behind and perhaps some of the girls I had crushes on( I was painfully shy when it involved girls). Maybe the" Ernie Douglas look", of the TV show My Three Sons , that I perfected , wasn't a smart fashion statement. I've lived in Spokane since we moved here in 1971 and raised a family and owned a business for over 35 years. Been married twice... 10 yrs. first time and 25 yrs. and counting the second time. I have 2 kids ...one girl and one boy. Jesica is 30 and Brock is 25. I have one grandson named Saelor and one on the way. Business life sucks right now but family life is great. Love being a grandparent. If anyone remembers me ,I'd like to here from you. I guess even if you don't . Thanks, Doug.
