David's Story
Life
I'm married and live in Washington, D.C. My wife Gilah and I have a son, Judah. Gilah became a rabbi in 2003. From January 1980 until September 2017 I was an attorney for the US EPA, helping enforce federal water pollution laws. As Headquarters work, this mostly involved policy and more complex legal issues issues rather than active litigation -- although I've done a bit of that (particularly appeals). I've also done some legislative and regulatory drafting, including some existing provisions of the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act. During the Bush administration, though, it was strictly damage control. d in the July 2009 Columbia Journal of Environmental Law. I suspect it had an influence on the Deepwater Horizon case a few years later. A couple of years later I participated in writing the United States' brief in Sackett v. EPA, a Clean Water Act case in the Supreme Court. (We lost, but it hasn't turned out too bad.) Before EPA I worked for NJPIRG and a couple of other public sector jobs. Before that, it was Rutgers College and Cornell Law School. Before that -- well, you know. I'm in touch with a few classmates from time to time, but rarely. You can Google me and find a few things. I'm now retired, although my wife continues to work. In 2019 we spent June and July outside Santa Fe, and then I drove around the country in August. We stayed healthy in 2020 and 2021.
