Duane's Story
After graduating VHS I attended Mercer University, graduating in 76. I played on the tennis team for a year before having to give it up to fit in all my classes. I majored in Biology with minors in Chemistry & Math. I then went to the Medical College of Ga. School of Dentistry and graduated in 81. I have a solo practice in Blackshear, Ga. I married Charlotte Courson from Waycross, Ga. in 1992 and have a 16 year old son, Brett. I also have two step-daughters, Kelly & Sarah. my high school classmates but maybe we'll have another reunion some time. I'm adding this part 10 yrs. later, I'm still practicing dentistry in Blackshear. My son is now 26. I was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in Sept. 2017 and had my right kidney removed. I'm taking immunotherapy and have been in remission now for about 6 mos. I'm doing very well and hope to be around for a long time. I still play golf, I sing in the church choir, and I collect comic books. I hope we will have a 50 yr. reunion in 2022. I would love to see some of my friends again.
