Duane's Story

Life Moved to California 30 years ago and never been back! Well, once. Alot of changes to Kankakee! I work part time in Mexico, and married a Latin woman. We have two kids (4 and 11), two cars, 4 birds, 4 computers, and season passes to Disneyland. I work in computers and enjoy it. Used to own a sail boat but married life with kids didn't leave time (or money) for boating. When my kids are a little older I hope to get back into sailing. Update:1/2009 Moved to Oceanside California 3 years ago. Kids are 8 and 15 now. Still working and will for along time! Bought a hot dog stand at the harbor and lost money for a year before I finally got rid of it. My daugter and I compete in the 4th of July boat parade, but never win a prize! We had fun working at the harbor, but back to computers again. I work in Irvine CA and Vista CA for a company with multiple facilities. I'm getting alot more aches and pains this year! Update 1/2010 Boy this year went fast. Took my daughter to SEA Life aquarium last April. (see photo) Am thinking about retiring, but not seriously. Still working, but would like to find something interesting to do. I'm tired of computers! And I can't get this classmates.com to show my photos! Very frustrating. Oh well. My daughter's birthday is next month. (9 years) I'm learning to tie those skinny baloons into animal shapes for her party. Wish me luck. BTW, I'm not a gold member so I can't see who has viewed this. Send me a message.............. Update 6/2013 Retired and tired! I was in Kankakee in Jan (2012) - it was cold! My daughte...Expand for more
r was with me and we saw my old house and other places I remembered from 50 years ago. My daughter wanted to see a snow storm but the ground only had a light covering of snow. And very cold! After a few days we headed back to California. I'm retired now and spend my time playing taxi to my 12 year old daughter and banker to my 19 year old son. He can't find a job so he started Jr college. No career goal in mind and hangs out with his friends all day. Reminds me of me at that age. I'm trying not to be grumpy in my old age but don't always succeed. As I surf around this site I remember the names but can't remember much else. My wife says why am I surprised, I can't remember what she said last week let alone friends from 50 years ago. But, Happy 50th to all my high school friends and especially Larry and Randy. DS Update 11/21/2014 I uploaded a new profile picture of my daughter and I, taken a few months ago. I can't believe I'm 69 and she's 13 going 14 in a couple months. I still play taxi to her and her friends, and still play banker to my son - who finally got a job a few months ago. I can't complain about them though as I believe I was more trouble to my parents at this age than they've been. Happy Thanksgiving! Update 10/16/2016 Still retired, had a couple bad years medically but survived, still not a classmates member, My daughter was Miss Jr Teen San Diego county, 2015 - I enjoyed going to the parades and county fair with her. Thanksgiving is coming up, So............ Merry Christmas! hope you have a good one....................
