Sherry's Story

Here's my life as of July, 2008. Can you believe it's been 30 years since we graduated from Independence High School? So will you be attending our 30 Class Reunion? As a member of the reunion committee, I know it will be a great time, so for sure I will be there. If you want reunion more details, send me a message, look at the alumni link at the IHS website. I'll be 48 in September...getting closer to the BIG 50! In August I will begin my 12th year in the Alum School District, currently I am a Literacy Coach. I'm proud to say that this past spring I completed my Masters in Educational Leadership from SJSU. (Only 25 years after I earned my BA) Speaking of 25, Greg and I celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary in June! Life has not always been perfect for us, (or even close to it) but we are hanging in there together. Greg continues to work for a Cisco Systems contractor in Milpitas,. board) Greg's true passion is coaching Boys Basketball. He started at Piedmont Hills HS, and he is now at good'ol IHS. That's right, Greg's a 76er! He loves coaching, and the team has really improved. Our daughters are now 18 and 21, and both will be attending Ohlone College in the fall. Amanda plans to transfer to Santa Clara University in 2009, where she will work on her Liberal Arts Degree. She plans to become an elementary school teacher. We're so proud of her. Jenny is just starting college, and she doesn't have a clue what she wants to major in. I'm sure she will excel in what ever she decides. One of our favorite vacation destinations is Disneyland, we all love the Magic Kingdom. I've encluded a few pictures from our most recent visit. I truely hope everyone out there is plugging away, just like me. If you remember Sherry Johnson, the fair haired, freckle faced, sometimes shy band-geek, drop me a line.
