Dudley's Story
After graduation, I dated then married my high school sweetheart (she was from Arvada) and attended college for a couple years at Metro State and Colorado School of Mines. Our marriage and my college career both ended after a couple years and I escaped to the oilfields of North Dakota and Wyoming, among other places. I never remarried though I have had the pleasure of knowing several wonderful women over the years and though we are no longer together I am still friends with many of them.
I worked as a geologist and petroleum engineer for nearly 18 years and had many wonderful experiences and made many good friends but after a while life as an oilfield gypsy got to be too much for me and I retired from that industry in 1996. After a failed relationship with a beautiful younger woman in Bismarck I returned to Denver where I took up a new career as an electrician, but after so many years of living "out in the country" I could no longer stand the fast paced Denver lifestyle and eventually moved to Western Colorado...Expand for more
and settled near the small town of Olathe, near Montrose.
Life has not been easy since then with lots of highs and lows but I am getting along and surviving. Following a couple heart attacks, the first in 2002 and another this past March (2011) I have learned that life is fragile and not to be taken for granted. After many years of running around and not taking good care of myself I have slowed down and am thankful for everyday I can wake up alive. I am now taking life easy and am semi-retired, living on a small farm and enjoying what time I have left in this world.
While I can never go back, I have been taking some time to revisit my old high school days and have submitted our 1974 yearbook to share with everyone who wants to check it out. I have lost touch with almost everyone I knew from those days and it amazes me still to realize how many of my graduating class members I do not know. Do any of you remember me? I was always kind of a loner, but I hope I made a good impression on those who knew me.
