Dudley's Story

Life Well I am still alive and kickin. Guess those who are reading this are too. And hey we are not getting older, we are just getting more cranky. Well, maybe a little older also, but who's counting now. And really does it even matter? Worked for C&S Bank which eventually became Bank of America. Took early retiement due to consolidation. Seems that is the new way of life for lots of us now. So now I pursue my love which is golf and play as much as I can. Anyone out there become an avid golfer also? A Great game but very frustrating. Two years ago was diagnosed with throat cancer and went through living hell to get rid of it and after 3 months of Chemo and radiation treatments, so far I am still cancer free. Would not wish that on my worst enemy as it almost killed me. So guess I am a cancer surviver. Probably some of you out there have had cancer problems also. It's no fun. Anyone that would like to chat about it or need an ear to just listen and for supprt can email me. Sometimes its just nice to talk to someone that has been through it also. Oh an as an update, I am now officaly in remission, and counting each day as another lucky day to be alive. Last time I was in Jonesboro it had changed so much I hardly knew it. Gosh is our old high school still standing? I don't even know. But looking back on those years they sure were good ones. Man how things sure do change. Well enough of that. I live in Snellville now and have lived here for 15 years with my wife Patti. She is the one that pretty much kept me going during my cancer bout. Without her taking care of me I probably would not have made it through. Lots of past stuff I could go into, but hey that's just the same ol boring crap alot of us have been through. Well for those that are interested I just pasted my three year mark after ha...Expand for more
ving my throat cancer. YEPPIE and jumping up and down. They say if you can go that long and the cancer does not come back then the outlook is really good. Only time will tell now. Only side effect is that my saliva is still not coming back, but man is my voice so much deeper. Kind of sounds like Barry White now. You know the "Oh Baby" guy. So how is every one else doing these days? Drop me a note and let me know. And its been great hearing from all those that have taken the time to write. Sure brings back good memories. Thanks Hey it was great seeing everyone at our 40th reunion and so many are still young looking. Well I think so anyway. After all we are as young as we feel, right? I am so looking forward to our next reunion and any events inbetween. It was alot of work but I think it was well worth it from the responses I got. That made it worth while. Coming up on my five year anniversary of my cancer and have my fingers crossed that all is still well and in remission. If you stop by my Classmates page drop me a line and let me know how you are doing. Don't be shy after all we are all old enough at this point I think. Well most of us anyway. Ok, updating my info.. I am still here.. Yippie!!! Still alive and well and cancer free after all this time. Older and grayer for sure, but hey that's life. Could be worse. Still talk in a deep voice. Never did get most of my saliva back from my Kemo and mostly the radiation treatments, so I constantly am taking sips of water and yes still sound like Barry White for those who are old enough to remember him.. OH WAIT!!! WE are ALL old enough to remember him. Hard to believe it has been so long ago that we were all at the Boro and being crazy and having fun. Life was so different then. But as I have learned over the years, EVERYTHING changes.
