Stephanie's Story
School
I absolutely loved school. When I think back to elem., middle, high school and college, I remember nothing entirely bad. I had a great time with my friends, in class and learning. Now that I'm out of school, I miss being surrounded by people my own age, living in the dorms, and learning new things, but I'm so happy that I'm done with tests and finals. The teachers that stand out in my mind from high school are Ms. Castaneda, Mrs. Timoshenko, Mr. Dunlop :p, and Frau Sanger, among others.
College
College passed by at an alarming rate. I can't believe that I've already finished, even though I was in college for 5 years. From MJC, I transferred to CSU Northridge to study television production. I didn't like the Southern California valley area, so I left and headed back up North and went to CSU Sacramento for 2 years. While there, I lived in the dorms and had a blast. I was also very involved with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. I traveled to Cairo, Egpyt in the summer of 2001 on a miss...Expand for more
ions trip through them. College was an awesome experience. I met some awesome people, learned more about what my goals and desires are in life, and had a lot of fun. After a 6 yr. hiatus, I am back in school at Sacramento State to earn my Master's and eventually be a community college professor. Graduation date is Dec. 2010.
Workplace
I worked for 2 1/2 years at the NBC station in San Diego as an audio tech and camera person. I am now back in Sacramento and again working behind-the-scenes at KCRA Channel 3, the NBC affiliate in Sacramento. I run the sound/audio board during live news broadcasts and am a floor director in the studio. I love being involved with live news because even though I do similar work each day, some aspect of it always changes. I enjoy it...it's fun. My goal is to not let work control me. Even though I enjoy what I do, I try to make sure that I make time for myself outside of work. In my opinion, work is a means to pay for living expenses and all the fun things in life.
