Dyann's Story
Life(updated 11/08)
My life has taken many turns, and given me 7 children (3 mine/4 step) and 11 grandchildren (my newest grandaughter was born 10/01/08)and 2 great grandaughters. I have retired 9 years ago from the insurance business after pursuing careers in both nursing and the food/beverage industry. 9 years ago I moved to a golf community in the Sierra foothills with my husband of 15 years. Life is great! I look forward to reading about and hearing from other classmates, and the next reunion! Anyone who has not posted their bio should take the time to do so, it is fun reading about everyone! Hope all of you are well and happy.
update 5/6/11 still living in the golf community, and still loving life! am a devoted member of the local Kiwanis (president of club in 2011-2012 term). so many children who need help in our community, & that is our focus, so it is a great fit for my time & talents. I love what i do, and am blessed to be able to give back to those in need. Am going to Geneva Switzerland to represent our club at the international convention! should be fun and such an honor. still married - 18 yrs now - a record for me!!! my children are all doing very well, and grandchildren growing up too fast! Samantha in 3rd year university, looking to sports broadcasting career! watch for her on the screen someday soon! i would love to read about more of you and see that someone from our era is planning a reunion! i missed the one at swiss park a couple of years ago as i was in Europe on vacation. let's do it - someone start the ball rolling!!! take care all and be well and be happy.
Update 12/27/12 - In my 2nd term as Lincoln Kiwanis President - are there term limits here? New Orleans was the site of last convention - now that was fun! Loving every minute of my time. There are so many wonderful people in this world, helping children to have a better life by the work that they do thru Kiwanis. We (our little local club) sent 1200+ lbs of See's candy to the deploy...Expand for more
ed men & women in harms way this Christmas! we have a fundraiser of See's candy sales, and have the See's for Soldiers part of it that was phenomenal! I am proud to be part of this great organization. If any of you get the chance to look into your local club, you will not regret it.
The family is as wonderful as ever, G-daughter Samantha graduated from Sonoma State in May and took a job in San Jose where she interned while a student.(don't ask me what she does - to techie for me!) other g-daughter, Casey is dazzling them in 2nd grade in Chico. All 3 kids still at same jobs - what loyalty they have! 23 years/16 years/13 years! What a wonderful life I have!!!. I would love to see more posts of you and your lives - also, pictures. And is anyone doing a reunion this coming year? 2013 will be 20 years since i did the last '67 class reunion with Michele Robles - come on - let's do this! Someone out there wants to do it! Take care my friends, and have a healthy, happy, prosperous 2013!
UPDATE 8/2016
Wow! what a difference 3 years makes! I divorced in 2014, and met a wonderful man and we have bought a home in Sparks, NV where we both have retired from our Kiwanis volunteering for the time being and are enjoying our travel trailer and seeing parts of our beautiful country, when we are not enjoying our beautiful home and family. Planning a cross-country trip so I can see more of it. I think I have seen more of the world outside this USA and now it is time to stay home in the country that has given us the freedom to be who we are today! My life is still as interesting as it has always been, and I am planning to add so many more memories to it in the coming years. Will keep you all posted!
Take care and all be healthy and happy. Enjoy each day and don't settle for anything that is not your choosing, Life is too short, and we only get one time here on this amazing planet. Live it to its fullest and your happiest! ;-)) dyann
