Earl's Story
Life
I worked at Sears in S.F.S for Xmas 1977 (I didn't turn 18 until 11/04), I then worked for Bettis Rubber Co in Whittier from 02/78-04/84.
During that time , I married Paula Gutridge (Cal-Hi , class of '80) whom I had gone to the same church w/since my early years. We were married 5/16/81 , so we have been married over 35 years. We have 3 kids , Tiana (9/21/84) , Ryan (8/6/86) , and Travis (5/1/89).
When Bettis began to close , I took a job w/Montgomery Ward in Norwalk as a commission Home Electronics Sales Assoc (11/83). In 12/91 , I replaced the retiring manager. In 9/93 , I was promoted to the biggest volume store at the Lakewood Mall until Wards closed 3/01. I then spent 6 months in purgatory w/Kmart as an Asst. Store Manager (4/01-9/01) I left Kmart and moved on to IDcomm for 1 1/2 yrs. When that business (cellular phones) began to sour , I then spent 11 mos as a Store Manager w/Zales Jewelers , then 4 months as a Store Manager w/Radio Shack. From of 06/28/04 to 03/28/07 , I was at Wal-mart as an Asst. Store Manager. I then took a position of Store Manager (in train...Expand for more
ing) for Savers , like a Goodwill , which is charity / donation based store. Unfortunately , that did not pan out. As of 11/24/07 , I went back at Walmart. As of 09/13/13, I am currently Operations Manager for Harbor Freight Tools and LOVING it. My youngest of 3 children graduated Cal Hi in 2007 The other 2 also from CalHi : 2002 & 2004). We live in Whittier , approx 1 mile from Cal-Hi. My wife ran a very successful daycare out of our home (from 8/97 - 10/09 when she finally got burned out)). We have a nice 5 bdrm , 2 bath home. We attend WACC (Whittier Area Christian Church in Whittier), and previously attended Beaty Ave, Baptist Church until it folded in 6/90.
RECENT UPDATES :
02/26/08 - Birth of our first grandchild , a boy , Dallas. He is a cutie! His Dad , my oldest son Ryan , was married on 10/17/09. Our 2nd grandchild, Kaitlynn, was born on 10/1/10. Our 3rd grandchild, Nolan Ryan Hancock, was born on 12/21/13.
