Earl's Story
Life
Ahh, where to begin? After graduation I attended Ohio University where I studied Elementary Education and meet my first wife (Laura Callender). We were married shortly after we graduated from OU in '82 and lived briefly in Conneaut and Salem, and then eventually moved to Washington CH, Oh. I spent a few years doing long term substitute teaching and during that time I became interested in Emergency Medicine. I joined the Fayette Co. Life Squad in 1983 as an EMT and soon became a shift crewleader and emergency dispatcher. In 1984 I began working professionally for a local private ambulance service (Morrow Ambulance). By 1987 my marriage was crumbling and I had given up on ever finding a teaching job so I began to persue EMS as a career choice.
My first wife and I divorced in 1989 and I had already begun working full time as an EMT. That year I delivered my first baby in the field and made the decision that EMS was going to be the focus of my life from that point onward. During that summer I meet and married my second wife (Kimberly James) in Chillicothe, Ohio. In 1990 I moved back to Ashtabula and we had our first child (Colin). In 1992 our second child was born, (Kendre). At that time I had been working for NorthShore Ambulance which was located in Geneva. I also attended Brown Memorial Hospital's Paramedic Training Program.

ulance Network. I have been with CCAN ever since. In 1997 I divorced my second wife and temprarily lost custody of my children. After a bitter 4.5 year battle I regained custody of them and have raised them on my own, with some help from my mother.
Currently I am the senior paramedic for the company and am actively involved in protocol development, continuing education and field orientation. I am also the senior member of their Paramedic Intensive Care Team and the former secretary of IAEP Local #252.
I still live in Ashtabula with my children who are now 17 & 16, and a great blessing to me. Both are very intelligent and are good athletes in their own ways. Colin is in the 12th grade at the Ashtabula County JVS and has visions of becoming a carpenter and also joining the Pro Bowlers Tour. Kendre is a 4.0 student and a budding basketball star at Lakeside High School. We are now looking for a house to buy and make our own.
Besides my work I have also found great enjoyment in the raising and showing rabbits. We raise 2 different breeds of rabbits and we attend many shows each year. Over the years I have become an respectable chef and enjoy preparing large dinners around the holidays. I have interests in history and reading. My other hobbies are raising my rabbits, classical and oldies music and photography.
After attending our 20th reunion in 1998 I am very much looking forward to seeing everyone at our 30th in 2008.
