Earl's Story
Life
After high school, I graduated from Michigan State, lived in Aspen, CO then returned for law school at Detroit College of Law. After graduating from law school, I moved to Albuquerque because it was growing and I developed a taste for Mexican food. I've been practicing law here since 1979. My wife, Linda Rockwell and I have a son, Eric. We own our law firm: Oldaker, Norris & Rockwell. LLC. Linda does the high volume stuff, domestic relations, probate, trust & estate work. I do the high dollar stuff, corporate, commercial, insurance defense and plaintiff's litigation (thank you high school choir and musical where I learned to perform on stage), as well as industrial revenue bonds and other transactional work such as industrial leases, sales of ranches, real estate and businesses. Come on, some of my old friends who are now big shots; send us some business! I'm a charter member of Rotary Del Sol, a local Rotary club. I'm counsel for and a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Atomic Museum Foundation which supports the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History which is in Albuquerque. s in a highrise in downtown Albuquerque. Take note, a highrise in Albuquerque might be, at most, 22 floors. We live in a solar adobe house in Corrales, a small suburb north of Albuquerque. New Mexico is very different from southeastern Michigan. We have great vistas. On a good day I can see the Santa Fe Ski Basin 70 miles to the NE from my study. We have colorful sunsets and terrific weather. The snow stays in the mountains on the ski slopes where it belongs. There are lots of outdoor activities. We like to ride our road bikes, travel to northern NM and southern CO in our RV to camp, fly fish, mountain bike, ski and relax. Occasionally, I'll ride my motorcycle (a sport-touring bike) for a few hours throught the canyons to clear out the cholesterol or jog a 5k with our golden retriever "Jolie Blonde," along the irrigation canal at the end of our street. The great thing about New Mexico is that you can do all these things (except ski) all year long. The things I miss the most being away from Michigan are the Detroit Tigers, sailing, Greektown and the Detroit Auto Show. But I still follow and cheer for the Tigers.
