Ed's Story
Life
My family moved back to Michigan in 87 and I went to Huron High School in Ann Arbor. After graduation, I enlisted in the Marine Corps and made it into the band. Before I joined the Fourth Marine Aircraft Wing Band in New Orleans, I was assigned to the 1st Division Band at Camp Pendleton and went to Desert Storm and I also went to Bosnia. Neither of them were much fun, but I did learn a lot.
New Orleans was an absolute blast and if you ever get a chance to go to Mardi Gras, go. It is so much fun. I marched in 138 Mardi Gras parades, the Indianapolis 500 in 1992 and 1993, the Parade of Roses in Pasadena, CA., performed at the 1992 Pan Am games and performed for President Bush (the 1st), President Clinton, Margaret Thatcher, and King Hussein of Jordan. I got to meet both Presidents, as well as V.P. Quayle, and V.P. Gore.
I had to get out of the Marines after eight years of service when a back injury put me out of commission, other wise, Id still be there. I do miss it terribly sometimes.
The back injury left me paralyzed in the left leg, and Ive had two surgeries to repair the damaged disks. The two lowest disks in my back have been replaced and I went thr...Expand for more
ough almost one year of physical therapy to learn how to walk again, but Im back walking and can do most of the things I was able to do before the injury. Ya gotta love modern medicine!!!!
My nephew, Emmett, is in the Marines and is over in Iraq right now. He decided to follow his uncle.
I went to Washtenaw Community College and received my associate in computer technology. I worked for a very short time at MCI WorldCom. After that collapsed, I decided to get my bachelors. Thank you Bernie Ebbers!!!
I work at Pfizer here in Ann Arbor and attend school at Eastern Michigan University. Im majoring in music with a minor in criminal justice. Only two, or three, or four more years to go (I'm only attneding part time). It really depends on how the tuition situation plays out. The economy in Michigan is in the toilet right now. After Eastern, I plan on attending Michigan State University for my Masters in music performance. I would like to be a trumpet professor at a university somewhere, but I may have to get my doctorate.
I live in Ypsilanti, MI., with my two critters, Max and Sheshka. I havent been married and dont have any children, yet, but I will someday.
