Ed's Story
Hi all,
After GHS I worked at the Boys Market and continued going to school by attending Harbor JC, playing a little football (very little) and transferring to Long Beach State. It has a fancier name now. Between my junior and senior year I married my high school sweetheart, Elaine Barlup (class of 1966). After graduating, I earned my teaching credential and got a job in San Luis Obispo County (where's that? - where Hearst Castle and Cal Poly is located)at a little high school of 120 kids in Templeton, California. That was fall of 1969.I was the social studies teacher, PE teacher, head football coach, director of activites, assistant baseball and basketball coach --- well you get the idea. (I did not drive the bus). After three delightful years at Templeton I got a teaching and coaching job at Paso Robles High School. It had 650 kids. I taught social studies and coached football for the next 26 years. It was during this time that Elaine and I had two sons, Jeff in 1970 and Chad in 1973. I enjoyed both teaching and coaching both of them in may career. In 1980 Elaine and I divorced. It was not a pleasant experience for me or the boys, but the result for me was excellent. In 1981 I met my current wife Bonnie (for 27 years now) who is the absolute love of my life. S...Expand for more
he had two children, Tina and Trent. You should have seen us when Tina had her own room and the three boys (ages 10,7 and 6) were in one room. WOW. All four went to and graduated from Paso Robles High School. I taught all four at one point or the other. (Paso continued to grow of over 2000 students). I am very proud of all four of our kids. We also have five, going on six, grandchildren. At the age of 51 I went back to earn my masters and administrative credential. I served 7 more years at Paso as an assistant principal and my last three years as principal. Yes, Eddie Railsback was a high school principal. One never knows, does one. Of course one's life is never just about what he does, but what he loves. First I love God, Jesus, Bonnie and family in that order (unless it is prudent to change the order, if you know what I mean). I still love football and competition. I really enjoy "camping" if you want to call a 5th wheel camping. I love doing woodwork and restoring furniture. I love being with friends and having a glass of wine or maybe a beer. (Paso is a wine area second only to Napa and Sonoma). So, as you can see, I am still alive and kicking, healthy for all intents and purposes and looking forward to seeing some of my classmates soon. Take care, y'all.
