I knew I was getting old 10 years ago when my boys (24 and 23) asked me what I knew about the Kennedy assassination and I told them that I was in 8th grade, in the library, at the end of the school day when they announced John K's assassination. Then told them more about what happened. When I asked them why they wanted to know, they said that they were studying it in HISTORY class! Then they told me that they asked me about it because for me it wasn't history, it was current events! (BRATS!!). Since Brookdale CC, I went on to Glassboro (Now Rowan U.) and got a B.A. and an M.A. in education. Worked at a grant funded job with Monmouth Co. Board of Social Services getting MS people out of their homes and back into the community at a time when "barrier free" was unknown. Joined the Navy in 1980, as a Surface Warfare Officer (the kind that in the movies yells, "Right standard rudder, all ahead two-thirds!" After sea duty I taught at Officer Candidate School, in Newport, RI for 2 yrs., then became a recruiter for the Navy Reserve Officer program for 10 years, mostly in Maine, where my father is from.
