Edie's Story
Hi Everybody. It's been almost 39 years since we graduated and in some ways it seems like yesterday. I live in Placerville, CA...just a few miles from where gold was discovered back in 1848. We live on five acres. We've been here for
about 20 years and this is where I was meant to be. I'm a country girl at heart. We have lots of animals...donkeys, chickens, dogs and cats. A total of 25...but I'll just leave it up to your imagination to figure out how many of each one. Let's just say I live by the saying..."if there's room in the heart, there's room in the home". I try to help the little critters that are homeless (without losing my husband). I've been married for 28 years to David Messer. He's from the Torrance area. We have two great kids, Luke and Heidi. They are 24 and 22. I worked for about 12 years after graduating as an Administrative Assistant for the Vice-President of an international company (Yamaha). I've been a stay at home Mom since Luke was born. Although I have always found many things to fill my time. Working at the kid's school,...Expand for more
volunteering at the state park where gold was discovered, working at our market stocking magazines and as a 4-H Leader with the chicken group. I loved working with the kids and their chickens, and Fair time was the best of all. Nothing like a country fair. Not to be a bragging Mother, but Heidi's bird, Madeline, did win Best of Show one year. David is a Superintendent with McCarthy Bros Construction. He's their parking structure go to guy. Luke is working right along next to his Dad learning the trade. Heidi is the Teen Services Director at our local Boys & Girls Club in Placerville. She'll be transferring up to Humboldt University this Fall as a junior. She wants to be a teacher.
Life has been very good to me. I can't brag that I have gotten my degree in any field and gone on to invent, cure or discover anything important, but I love my family more than anything in the world and each day I go out into the world, I try to be friendly and kind to each person (or animal) I come in contact with. A smile and a kind word go a loooooong way in life.
