Edith's Story
Hello, friends!
If you knew me, it probably wasn't for very long; we were a military family and moved ALOT! We usually traveled together but sometimes my dad had unaccompanied tours of duty in other countries and we had to stay behind. When he had to go to the western hemisphere, we lived in Boston. When he went to the eastern hemisphere, we lived in the Los Angeles South Bay. He did 2 tours of Korea and three in VietNam so we were in LA alot. Here's where we were stationed as a family or by myself (anyone been to any of these places?): Croix Chapeau, France; Fort Banks, Massachusetts; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Fort Devens, Massachusetts; Fort Richardson, Alaska; Wildflecken, Germany; Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Ord, California (twice); Pirmasens, Germany, Fort Stewart, Georgia (twice); Fort MacArthur, California; Fort Huachuca, Arizona and Fort McClellan, Alabama.
Not surprisingly, my younger sister and I went into the "family business" and served ...Expand for more
in the military. I was an Intelligence Analyst in the 2d Military Intelligence Battalion , the 14th Psychological Operations Battalion and the 311th Counterintelligence/Interrogation Battalion (Anyone? Anyone?)
Now I work for the Department of Defense teaching elementary school on a military installation in Georgia. I had applied to teach at one of our overseas bases and was ready to move on in 2006 but found out that I had cancer so I didn't go after all. After INTENSE treatment, they tell me I'm going to be okay (Whoo Hoo!!). I decided to stay here and bought and old house on the 17th fairway of a golf course. I am enjoying fixing it up as my strength and humble school teacher budget allows.
I still have one child at home and in college. I'm also in school, at the end of my doctorate -FINALLY (I had to take a year and a half off when I got sick). I look forward to a LONG life spending more time with my family, my friends and my old Beatles records.
