Edith's Story
I am Edith (Parker) McKinney. I graduated in 1970 from I.C. Norcom. I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Norfolk State. I married a military man. Traveled for a while as all military families do. I have one daughter. After divorcing. I returned to Portsmouth. I presently work for the Department of Defense. I finally did something that I should had done a while back. I waited to get "older to get my Masters Degree". I completed my Masters in Business on May 3, 2010. Celebrated my graduation and Mother Day by going to the Caribbean. with some of class of 70. Some of our classmates went on a nine day cruise in May 2010. The class of 1970 took our second cruise on My 2012. We took a six day cruise to the Bahamas. Most of the class has reached 60 or will reach the age of 60 by the end of the year. Everyone that went enjoyed the cruise. We would love to see more of our 1970 classmates and friends from the other classes. The class ihas planned another cruise. this time we will going ton a Western Caribbean Cruise from May 10, 2014 until May 17, 2014. We would love for you to join us.. on The Oasis of the Sea leaving from Florida. This ship is supposed to be one of the largest .ships that belong to Royal Carribeans Cruise Line. We will be going to Jamaica, Mexico, and Hati. Cabins are still available. Prices depend on the type of cabin you want. If we have enough people interested, a "PARTY" bus will transport us from Hampton Roads (VA) to Florida for an additional fee. So, why don't you come out and party with the class of 1970.. We are losing too many clasmates so please lets reconnect. If you can't make the meeting on the 4th Sunday of the months, send the class an email letting us know that you are doing well. After our Sundays meetings the class have fellowship. We bring food and beverages. Let's stay in touch.
The class is 1970 is having an All White Breeze Dance on July 20, 2013. Proceeds are for the scholarship fund. Tickets are $50.00 per person. Please help support this event. We give seniors $1,000.00 scholarships , We know that this is not much, but it will help with books. We would like to continue our giving. This event will be held at the Hilton Gardens Hotel In Suffolk. Please contact me if you would like to attend. I need to sell some.tickets. (SMILE). Or, if you want to make a donation to help out the scholarship funds, please let us know. All monies from this event is for the scholarship.fund. I hope to see you at the dance or the cruise.
