Edward's Story
Life
After High school I went Franklin University and graduated with a BS. While carrying a full load there I also had full time accounting jobs at various companies in Columbus. After graduation I went to work for SCOA Industries, Retail Footwear Div. (Schiff Shoes, Gallenkamp Shoes). In about 3 years I became manager of their General accounting Dept. After a couple of years I was getting bored and they transfered me to their IMS Dept. as a programmer trainee. In 3 more years I was a Sr. Programmer/Analyst. Scoa was then bought and moved to Boston and I was not invited to go.
I had a string of bad luck in that it seemed every company I went with looked strong and then in about ...Expand for more
3 to 5 years they went under. I finally got a very strong company that was world wide and I felt comfortable. In late 2001 we worked a lot of long hours. I was working at least 16 hrs a day, 7 days a week and developed Bi-Lateral carpal Tunnel. When I told them I would require surgery to release the problems, they terminated me and fought the workmen's comp. case. It took a year before I could have the surgeries. While waiting I developed Pancreatitis and spent time in the hospital 9 times and had 6 surgeries. During this 4 year period. I was put into a nursing home twice to learn how to walk again because of muscle atrophy.
I am fine now and trying to get back into a normal life.
