Edward's Story

I am almost certain that the unfortunate news in regard to my family has spread throughout the Township by now. In spite of that "bad news, I had and have persevered in that I: (1) have acquired a BA and MA in music from Temple University; (2) have done post graduate studies in ethnomusicology at the University of Arizona in Tucson;:(3) have lived and worked abroad,(Dominican Republic, Gabon, West Africa) for several years; (4) have served as a teacher of both music (piano) and foreign/second languages (Spanish, ESL) during the course of my career; (5), and have recently been granted the status of "Visiting Researcher/Scholar under the auspices of the Loza...Expand for more
no Long Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where I am working on a project that deals with the "act of drumming in the Spanish-speaking Caribbean as an Assertion of Cultural or National Identity" . My advice to all of you, who have suffered great loss over the years, is to "keep on pushing" as we used to all tell each other when we were students at Darby Township High. We should also be proud to have been under the tutelage of all of the great teachers who went "beyond the call of duty" to stand by us well as encourage us to pursue our dreams whatever they may have been at that time.
