Edward's Story

Life wow what a long strange trip it has been. After HS I went to computer school and then move to Chicago for a while and worked at Fermi lab then moved to moved to LA and lived on the beach. That was fun. But as always all good things must end and was forced to move back to Braintree and was not happy with that. So far I have been in 45 states, lived in 4 and have been to 8 countries. I always wanted to see the great Mayan cites. So I planned out a major trip. I went down the Yucatan peninsula into Guatemala across guad into El Salvador and then in to Honduras. The Mayan city Tikal is truly breath taking. Pyramids rising above the rain forest. When I was sitting on a mound I heard some birds squawking in the trees. All of a sudden 100 green macaws took flight and it was a sea of green in the sky. There were very mischievous coati mondis, (raccoons with very long noses) that were very interested in my lunch. Finally I ended up on the small island Utila which is off the coast of Honduras. The island was 90% undeveloped and walked on a deserted beach and played cast away. I have been to the rain forest five times already. One time when we were hiking in the Pico Bonito cloud forest we came to this huge waterfall. We broke and had lunch. Our lunch was mostly fresh fruit. Once we peeled everything all these butterflies came out of the forest and landed all over us. There was one butterfly called the blue morph. When the sunlight hits it, it looks like florescent blue. I took a canoe trip in the Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge. I had to go to this old rail road station and this old narrow gauge banana train took us through these tiny towns and jungle and finally to the preserve. Basically it is this brackish lake and tons of bayous. Although I couldn¿t see them but my guides were pointing out birds, bats and monkeys. When we brought the canoes back we went to the ocean side. There were thousands of palm t...Expand for more
rees but a virus had killed them and just the stalks remained. It was a very eerie sight. My last trip to the rain forest (El Cacal) I kayaked down these narrow bayous. We were able to get up close the howler monkeys. When you make howling grunting noises they will answer back. I have also explored the hog keys off the coast of Honduras. They are really tiny islands. One island is named turtle island and it mentioned in one of the pirates of the Caribbean movie. So far I have been to Honduras 13X. I still do art but not embroidery. I more or less do a primitive style and use natural products. Recently took a beaded medallion and surrounded it with colored porcupine quills in a sun burst pattern and behind that made circle of horse hair. Totally clueless on what to call it. Also I am very interested in the Huichol Indian beaded art in Mexico. They are called the peyote people and very private. They live way up in the mountains and it would take me forever to get there. As in me. I was finally correctly diagnosed with ADHD. I fascinated the doctors at Harvard and they had me in studies. What really got them was that I was able to string together seemingly unrelated events and show a common thread. But on the other hand simple things seem to baffle me. Professional life I am a network analyst and going for IS auditor certification and then down the road looking into computer forensics. My brother in law joked that you see people on the worst days of their lives. When you become a certified forensic auditor, when people see you it will be the worst day of their lives. On personal life I never married. I did come close 3 times. But it was their decision to end it. So I guess it was never meant to be. Of course I still think of GFs in HS and consider some of them the ones that got away. If I had gotten married I would not had the ability to travel. So a wise man once said so this is the life I choose.
