Edward's Story
Life
I married Janet Glover when I returned from the Military. Janet did much of my homework for me when I was attending college. I needed the help. We have traveled a lot and worked at many different jobs and locations. I did slow down a bit and worked the last 20 years at Oregon Health and Science University. We have moved to Michigan to retire. We live in the upper penninsula. I am looking for former colleagues from the message center (code 852)
School
I attended grade school at Tongue Point Naval Air Station (1949-1950), Kadena Air Base Okinawa (1950-1952), Astoria Grade School (1952-1953), and Warrenton Grade School. (1953-1957)
I spent all four years at Warrenton High School. I did not have a particularly great time in high school. My favorite time in school was at Kadena Air Base where the weather was good for softball, the fishing was good, and lots of excitement for a boy with the war going on.

Military
I served on various Navy cargo ships until 1963. I was a radio operator. I attended an intelligence school at Naval Station Rota, Spain in 1963. I then traveled all over Europe and middle east by train and airline. This period of time was kind of a cultural shock for me. I encountered all kinds different cultures and values that were hard for me to adapt to.
I was very grateful to get discharged from active service in 1964 and sent to Bremerton WA to work for the Navy as a civilian. I really enjoyed working and going to school there. The Navy offered me tuition free education and a salary thrown in. I was very lucky to be in the right place at the right time. My commanding officer there was the kind of officer that is too rare in the military. He had everyone's complete loyalty and trust. He died young of a heart attack, sigh.
