Edwin's Story
Life
One Pet: Welsh Corgi Pembroke...answers to the name of Linus
One Kid: Boy, now into his pre-teens. Answers with "Huh?" and "Whatever."
A brand new chopper? I don't think so.
Life is good. I've done pretty much everything that I thought I would, and then some. I've travelled a bit...mostly work related. Work has taken me to Italy, Hawaii, and all over the United States.
I work as an IT Auditor/Consultant up in the northern VA area. Not a bad area to live in...if you don't mind traffic...which I do! Still, while traffic can be a bear, I like work. I'd like retirement better, but I can't think about that right now!
I'm home most every weekend to spend time with my son. My son has been the biggest blessing in my life. I really didn't think I was going be a good father...but I proved myself wrong. My son and I have a great relationship. I hope that, as he transitions into his teenage years, he'll not be a nuisance like I was. I have every confidence in the world that he won't be.
Give me a holla.
School
ah Lake Taylor.
It seemed like I just couldn't fit in...chalk it up to growing pains. Still, for the most part, it was fun.
I remember tossing paper balls at Mike Williams and Lamont Woodard. I never could take classes seriously. Why study? I was busy trying to get out of that shy shell of mine. In retrospect, I do wish I applied myself a bit more...I didn't do so bad after I "grew up".
I remember Jenny Malinag getting me to try out for the Chamber Singers....Expand for more
Mr. Hutton was the best. That was probably the most fun school activity for me. Singing in plays...making All-state chorus. Grace and Jenny too...represent!
I remember being able to run up four flights of stairs in no time. Those days are long gone now! Now, getting off of the sofa is a challenge...four flights of stairs...yeah right!
College
I went to ODU...the only school I applied for. I knew I wasn't ready for college life, but I went anyway. I tried Music for a major. But I ended up getting nodes on my vocal chords. So, I changed to pre-pharmacy, and did that for a couple of years. The music bug hit me, and I ended up dropping out of college to pursue a career in music.
I learned how to play bass guitar. I played in a couple of local bands over the course of 6 years...but eventually, I had to grow up. I went back to school, but faced a major dilemma. I had one more year left...but, P-chem didn't sound too attractive after all that time had passed. I wasn't about to continue where I left off...so, I changed my major to Finance...sounds like a money-maker huh? I graduated 1995 with a BSBA Finance with a minor in Chemistry.
I worked at Bank of America for about 5 years during which time I went back to school to get some accounting courses. I started my career (2001) in Internal Audit thanks to Lyndon Remias c/o '85. Two years later, I passed my exams for Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
And here I am today!
