Whitney's Story
Life
I live on the Space Coast of Florida. I have two children... well, I can't really call them children anymore! My son (Bobby 20) graduated with the class of 2005 from Cocoa Beach High School. My daughter (Alison, 18) is a senior at Space Coast High School. I just learned to play golf, I work out about 4 times a week and the rest of the time I am working! I love to travel and hope with my new "empty nest" status to be able to do more of it.
School
I don't know... my high school days are something of a blur. I am still in touch with Laurie Stern (Moss). She and I were attached at the hip all through High School. I couldn't have done it without her. I felt like an awkward outcast throughout school. I hated it. It was a constant struggle to fit in, always feeling like I wasn't good enough, like I wasn't liked enough. It was tough. Do it over? I would if I could do it "knowing what I know now". I made sure my kids were more confident than I was, were more involved in sports and school functions, and made the best of their school days. I wish I had gotten more involved. Maybe joined student government, yearbook gone to the prom... something! It was all a waste. I remember a...Expand for more
few teachers and a few classmates. I wonder who remembers me??
Workplace
I won't bore you with all of the details leading up to my recent career. Basically, I raised my kids from 1987 (when the first of them were born). Motherhood fit me to a tee and I dove in head first. I loved taking care of them and my house etc.. I took an interest in child psychology and education and worked for many years in the field of early childhood education. As my kids got older I did a lot of volunteering. I jumped into that feet first as well being PTO President, a scout leader, cheerleading coach... you name it - I was involved. Then I landed a job working at Cocoa Beach High School in the front office. At this time my son was attending school there. I enjoyed the job, the kids, all of it... but nothing I ever did got me ahead financially. One day, a thought was planted in my mind. I don't know why it stuck, but it did and before I knew it I had a real estate license. I have been a licensed Realtor in Florida for 3 years now and am enjoying it very much. As an almost "empty nester" I am enjoying a little more financial freedom now having the ability to do things I never could before. Life is good.
