Elaine's Story

The picture I've posted depicts part of what I love to do. I'm a wildlife rehabber. This little squirrel came to me before her eyes were open. She was one of the many squirrels that passed through my hands. I lost count of the many rescues I had. This little squirrel was named by one of my 8 grandchildren. She was named Applesauce!! She was 8 months old and living outdoors ( as she should be ), but she would run as fast as her little legs would take her when I walked outside. I raised birds, raccoons, possums, rabbitsI had a few and one hummingbbird I dared to keep overnight. He was trapped in a warehouse I had a few bats too. My " real " job, the one I was paid for....A veterinary technician. I did that for about 20 some odd years and once again, I had so many dogs, cats, snakes, hedgehogs( I raised oved 100 of them ), iguanas and a number of other things I was fortunate enough to care for over the years. Animals are my true loves......I've lived in many places and the animals seem to follow or visa versa. Squirrrels are my favorite and most entertaining to raise and play with. One I had for six years. He had a disease caused ataxia and was non-releaseable. I saved him and his littermate and kept him in a large cage which became his home for 6 years. He lived a good long life and was very spoiled. When he died, a part of me died too. When I think of him, his scent becomes overwhelming sometimes. Like he's right back here with me. I live in Texas now and have a little Chihuahua. She and I are best buddies and are rarely apart from each other. My last dog was a Pomeranian and lived to be 17 years old. Well, so much for that. This is my life......the one that makes me smile. I do have three grown daughters who have given me the love of their children, eight in all. My life hasn't been peaches and cream by any means, but Ive made the best of what it's become. Although I'm single, I'm happy with life as it is and the spiritual path I've chosen. I have three brothers and one sister who graduated from San Rafael High. Ed, Bob, Tom and Cindy. Ed lives in South Carolina and has three chhildren, Bob sadly passed away 5 years ago this July. He was with the Maricopa County Parks and Wildlife where he was the head park ranger. Bob has a colleg aged son. Tom lives a ve...Expand for more
ry exciting life and has lots of beautiful children and Cindy has two girls and a young son. She lives in washington state where her husband makes lots of money, lol. That's it for now. Remember this....Where ever you go......there you are...Take care of your little piece of the earth. I always wanted to be a Veterinarian when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a Great idea. As it turns out, they were right.. Crochet or draw If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have my phone, music, and powerade to be able to deal with the day-to-day. I'm a Spiritual...not religious person. My inspiration comes from my beliefs Nascar, Pro Football, Squirrels and all animals, Oracle reading...none are obsessions, just things I like. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the interior and add on a special animal room.. My dream home would be in the country. Listen to your children. They have something to tell you. If I won $100 million, I'd give 10 million of it to Parkand Wildlife and individual Rehabbers, divide much of the rest to my kids, then spend the rest on a house, a corvette and my grandchildren. My current age is 58. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be 6 ft. under. I was so completely hummmm. I would have a center to care for wild animals. They could be treated and released or given an area for non realeaseable animals. Educate the public about land for wild animals. I wear what's comfotable for me and what my oldest daughter thinks I should wear. I share my home with my Chihuahua named Tía, which I find splendid !. I have no trophies. I have certificates and licenses, for Wildlife Rehabilitation, graduation Animal Studies, Instructor of Psychic Developmen. In 10 years, I hope to be dead. I'm going to get there by going to sleep.. Brenda, we met in Cosmetology school and we had nothing in common, but we became the greatest friends. We still are to this day. I love her and her family dearly. My first job was at Joy Crafteers, where I got paid $1.65 to make greeting cards.. What I remember most about it is I met my first true love.. The 1st time I cut school I was in the 6th grade. A girl in my class asked my brother why I wasn't in school. She knew I was going to do it. I got caught and never cut school again.
