Elaine's Story
Life
I have been married to the same guy for 42 years, have three wonderful grandchildren and one step-granddaughter,and a beautiful grandson borne to her new huband who just turned one., and even though I grew up with most people in Newport, St. Paul Park area I still consider this my school after moving in 1965 when my mother remarried and we moved to St. Paul. I graduated from Monroe but always have a place in my heart for those I grew up with in St. Paul Park (Cottage Grove). My class at that time would have been the first class from the then new High School. I still at least once a month go to Cottage Grove to get my hair done from Hair Dresser I have been with for almost 30 years now. It is fun to see how growth has come along from Highway 61 down Newport...Expand for more
, St. Paul Park way to Cottage Grove and back including all of the new /old shopping centers along 80th and 90th streets where I used to walk while in school. Hard to believe all of our walking spots are now shopping areas or new roads or businesses...or no longer have access to on foot at all. I am in the Inver Grove Heights area now and still see some people but can't say as I would recognize anybody other than the names....acquaintances...I was at West Publishing in St. Paul for 20 years then they merged with Thomson and went to Eagan. I was at the Eagan brach for 7 years before the next merger finalized and I was one of the first with a layoff. I now work at Comcast Cable for 10 years now and many friends from both schools through customer service contact.
