Elaine's Story
Life
I had a spiritual turnaround at age 21 and since then have been following the Lord much more closely. I worked on my Ph.D. in the early eighties but quit before finishing, mostly due to burnout. I returned in the 90's and was awarded the Ph.D. (in Classics) in December of 2004 from the University of California at Irvine! Finally! In the meantime... I met my husband in 1993 and we married in 1994 (I'm slow in doing everyt...Expand for more
hing!). We found that it was too late for me to have children so we adopted. We took two children in 2000 as foster children (ages 2 & 3) and adopted them in 2001. My family and I belong to a Lutheran Church in Westminster, Ca. I teach full-time at California State University, Long Beach. I teach mostly Latin courses with an occasional lecture course. For example, last fall I taught a course called Women in the Ancient World.
