Elaine's Story
In 1978: I got married, gained a brother-in-law (ha, ha!) Like l really needed another brother, I already had 5. My husband (David Jones) graduated from C of I. I had my first baby, a girl named Sarah Marie. And, I moved to La Grande, Oregon. I think it was a pretty productive year. Not one I would want to repeat.
In 1980 I/We moved from Oregon to Nevada. My husband was offered a CPA position with a private accounting firm, so we moved to Elko. The youngest of my two children was born there in 1981. Another girl named Wendy Renee. I worked as a statistical typist for the USDA Soil Conservation Service. I was laid-off when President Regan (God Bless his sole) went postal with government budget cuts. You gotta love the government! They were paying me to stay home with my kids!
In 1982, wanting to move back to Idaho,my husband took a position as a Tax Auditor (Boo, Hissss) with the Idaho State Tax Commission, which allowed us to move from Elko to Boise. After just over a year there, he couldn't take squeezing nickels out of little old ladys anymor...Expand for more
e and applied for a position at Simplot's in Caldwell. He got the job! So we went full circle, ending up back in Caldwell where we started.
All was not rosy in my little world. In 1985, my husband and I divorced. In 1986 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I lived, slaved like a dog, and raised my two girls for almost 18 years. They are all grown up now and have flown the coop! Oh what is a mother to do with all this space, and so much free time? I was only married that one time, I never re-married. I've been single for over 22 years now. That alone has elevated me to elite status amongst the other "Terminally Single" people I hang out with. Trust me, I'm not worried about finding something fun to do, there's pleanty to choose from.
Don't get me wrong, I have been in a few serious, long term relationships (with men) that have lasted longer then some peoples marriages. I just haven't taken the plung again. LOOK MOM, I finally grasped the concept of "Learning from my mistakes"! I laugh, but I don't think that's what she had in mind. Oh well.
