30+ years in a couple of paragraphs; well, here goes...
After high school, I went to Montcalm Community College for a year and studied Aviation Maintenance (I worked at Bishop Airport as an A&P mechanic during my junior and senior year). Then, in June 1978, I enlisted in the Navy.
During my 20-years of service in the Navy, I completed 3 extended deployments on aircraft carriers (USS Enterprise 1982-83, USS Constellation 1984-86 and, USS Carl Vinson 1990-94) and did a tour of duty in the first Gulf War.
I retired from the Navy in 1998 and spent the next eight years traveling throughout the world teaching flight attendants and aircraft mechanics how to operate and maintain "In-Flight Entertainment" systems. I saw a lot of the world while in the Navy but, during the time I worked for Rockwell Collins, I racked up close to a million frequent flyer miles (498,000 in 2004 alone) and I went to more than 20 countries on all 6 (populated) continents.
I moved to Texas in 2005 and, as the saying (here) goes; "I'm not from Texas but I got here as quick as I could." I'm still working in the aviation industry and probably always will but I would like to find that elusive "six-figure, work from home, part-time" job.
I am married to Connie (the good looking one in my profile picture) and have 5 children: Anthoney (also a US Navy veteran with 1 tour in Afghanistan and 2 tours in Iraq), Mellaney, Meggan (a US Army veteran), Catheryne and, Vanessa. I also have 5 grandchildren.
I would like to ask you a very important question. If you were to take your last breath on earth right now (and someday you will), do you know where you will spend eternity?
Many people think they have to be good enough to get into Heaven; not break any of the "Ten Commandments." There are two problems with this way of thinking: First, if you are honest with yourself, can you really say you've NEVER broken any of the commandments? Really? You've never take...Expand for more
n a piece of candy without permission? (Thou shall not steal); You've never wished you had something that belongs to someone else? (Thou shall not covet...). Have you always honored your father and mother?
But, the biggest problem with this way of thinking is that it is not what the Bible says. The Bible tells us; "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) And, Romans 6:23 tells us; "For the wages (payment) of sin is death" (separated from God in hell)...
The Bible also tells us; "But God commendeth (showed) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
Remember, God will not judge you on a curve. He will not weigh all the good things you have done against the bad. He will not compare your actions to the actions of others to decide if you're good enough to be "let" into Heaven.
But don't worry, there is Good News; Jesus paid your sin debt in full by dying on the cross for you. He took your place on the cross so you don't have to die an eternal death. It is His free gift to you. "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners... (1 Timothy 1:15).
So, how do you receive this free gift?
There is no "magic prayer" - Getting dunked in "holy water" ain't gonna do anything either. In fact, there is absolutely nothing YOU can do; Jesus has already done it all for you. The only thing left is to trust Him.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
To receive God's free gift of eternal life now just trust (believe by faith) that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again. Trust in Him alone as your savior and you will be forgiven and saved forever.
Thank you for allowing me to share this story of love with you. Send me a note and let me know how you are doing. I'd really like to hear from you.
