Eldon's Story
Hello, Class of 1972 Longhorns!!!
The horns might not be quite as straight or shiney as they once were but, I am still alive and kicking. I see that my name was posted in Classmates.com webb pages but I never knew it existed until recently. Wish I had have known about this sooner.
There are so many good memories of my years at Caprock High School. The times, the people, and most of all the impact it has had on my life through the years (many, many years). After graduation I took the summer off and did nothing but try to become a party animal. Well that was all fun and exciting until the summer was over and everyone was headed back to school or college. I felt pretty alone and lost at that point and decided to throw myself into the working world. What a wake up call that was. I worked at various jobs and companies through out Amarillo (Pantex, Harrington power plant, Ect). The time came when I didn't feel like I was making any head way and I decided to head back to school for more education. I looked into several different places but decided to start at Texas State Technical College, located at the old Air Base in Amarillo....Expand for more
I received an A.A.S in computer science and went back for another A.A.S in Laser Electro-Optics. I thought this would compliment my first degree and per my luck it didn't (but it didn't hurt either).
After receiving my degrees I left Amarillo and move to Dallas, what a change. Went to work for a company called Optic Electronic Corporation. Things were moving along pretty good but, I wanted to move on up the ladder and that wasn't going to happen with an A.A.S degree. The next six years (part time student) were busy times and I am glad they are over. I received a Bachelor of Science from UTA (University of Texas Arlington).
I now work for the city of Garland and I believe this is where I will finish at.
I married Penny in 1988 and have two beautiful stepdaughters and 6 wild and wooly grandkids that I love very much. We live in a small town just east of Dallas called FATE, every time I think about that I have to laugh.
I really do hope to hear from a lot of old friends, close or not so close. Life has gotten away from me and I would like to slow down and enjoy life again. May the lord smile on each and every one of you.
