Eleanor's Story

Life I was a Marine brat when I went to Fallbrook, and became a teacher of all kinds of brats when I joined DODDS-Dept.of Defense Overseas Teachers, and saw the world, after teaching in Fort Meyers Fl.for three years. In June I retired, and am living in Sarasota,Florida,because Calif. is too expensive for a retired teacher. I have joined the Audubon Society, and the Service League at the South Florida Museum ,which has a resident manatee named Snooty, 57 years old, who was nursed back to healt...Expand for more
h ,but couldn't be returned to the wild. I am single, and always have been, and have a cat named Bella, that I brought with me from my last base,Sigonella,Sicily. I miss my Sicilian, and American friends, but I love being my own boss, and making my own schedule. There are quite a few DODDS teachers in this area ,so I feel like I just have gotten a new transfer, but without having to teach. I still enjoy working with kids ,but just as a volunteer ,and not in a classroom, because I like change.
