Eleanor's Story
Followed the "approved" route for a female in the 1950's - worked a couple of years, got married, had 3 kids & a house in the suburbs. Got a horse for the family - that led to more, till we were raising Morgans on 10 acres...then moved to the boonies of north Missouri to a small farm in 1976 and have lived here since - with a several year break to finish college as a nontraditional student & almost straight A's to graduate in 1989. Half-way through a Master's in Counseling, health problems for both Jim & me caused an abrupt change of plans. Now we're both over-the-hill oldsters, enjoying life in the country.
Joined the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) & was Queen of Calontir in 1988-89 - Now Countess Zeno...Expand for more
bia of Rebelswood. What a fun alternate life! I miss the participation.
Have canoed the Ozark streams, Missouri River, and others in Missouri - camped & hiked in Missouri & Colorado - raised, trained and showed Morgan horses - sold paintings in art fairs & now on eBay - had a small dairy - hunt & fish & forage for wild foods here - garden - have been almost completely self-sufficient in the past when we were younger & had more working hands here - grew our own milk, meat, eggs, veggies & fruit with cows, pigs, chickens, rabbits. Have homesteaded this small farm & built our self-designed house around us while we lived in it (with luck, we'll complete it before we die).
In general, life has been interesting! LOL
