Elizabeth's Story
I went to Marine Corps Boot Camp just 4 months after graduating from High School. I had wonderful adventures being stationed at Naval Air Station Alameda for a short while, then to New Orleans, Louisiana at the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing Headquarters. I met my first husband there and 12 months later welcomed my son, Matthew Tucker, into my life. Next duty station was in Naval Air Station at Millington in Memphis, Tennessee. My career was cut short by military cutbacks, so in 1992 I was "let go," receiving a nice severance package. I started all over again in Memphis, Tennessee doing a number of different administrative jobs. I divorced in late 1992 and ended up living in Memphis for a while and then on to Fort Smith, Arkansas. I worked at a poultry processing plant called OK Foods in the Perso...Expand for more
nnel Administration office. That too was a fantastic adventure. I met some of the most humble and lovely people I've ever met in my entire life. I returned to California in 1999. I got a job as the Human Resources Manager for Jessica McClintock (Gunny Saks was her claim to fame for those who remember those formal wear dresses). After 4 years in the fashion industry I moved to construction, working for a small contractor specializing in synthetic turf fields and running tracks. In 2005 I moved on the Swinerton Builders based in San Francisco, working at the College of Marin. We managed the $250 million bond measure for facilities upgrades for 8 years. I remarried in 2007 and in 2011 welcomed my grandson, Noah Tucker, into my life. Life is good and I look forward to many, many more adventures!
