Elizabeth's Story
Life
I was quiet in school, deathly afraid of the teachers and went all through elementary school and high school with a knot in the pit of my stomach. It's a wonder that I ended up becoming a teacher myself!
but I'm a real teacher, so it was almost out of my hands--like a calling. In my various career reincarnations, I have taught high school English, kindergarten, fourth and fifth grades(presently). During the late 70's took a hiatus from public schools and spent a few years teaching test preparation for the grammar and reading portions of the SAT, LSAT, GMAT and GRE exams.
My husband and I have been together for 21 years and married for almost 18. We have a 12 year old son. My husband is a science teacher by day and a rock musician the rest of the time, being in two bands, one of which does original music and another which does cover music. My son also plays guitar and piano, and I have recently begun piano lessons. It's one of those things on my list of Things To Do Before I Die (or Before I'm Too Old To Remember Why I Ever Wanted To)
I have bachelor's degree in American Literature from Hunter College and a masters in elementary education from the College of Sta...Expand for more
ten Island.
I've traveled a bit and have been to Greece, Italy, Turkey, Spain and Morocco. Oddly enough I've never been to Canada.
I love reading almost as much as I love writing. But I love movies most of all. I think that they are the perfect art form. (I've had a long standing "love affair" with Marlon Brando, and am now also enamored of Johnny Depp.) When I was single and living in Manhattan for ten years among my friends were actors, writers and musicians. I wrote a very bad screenplay with a partner, a fun and rewarding experience. We never made a cent on it but he and I still have some priceless laughs about it!
I am very fortunate to have a wonderful family--my husband and son,my mom, sister, brothers, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and even in-laws! My dear friends are considered family.
I enjoy my home, especially my outside spaces--my porch and front garden and my back yard. I love New York and am proud to be a Brooklynite. I'm a fiercely patriotic American who believes in voicing my many strong opinions which, depending on the issue can be viewed as extreme liberal or extreme conservative. I'm just not a middle of the road kind of woman!
