Elizabeth's Story
I have been a Registered Nurse working with Oncology patients for 15+ years and then with Hemodialysis patients at the Veterans Hospital in East Orange, N.J. for the better part of 27 years. I am proud to have had the privilege of caring for our country's soldiers... At the same time, in the mid-90's, I became a Volunteer Firefighter, first in Denville, a totally volunteer department, and then in Millburn, a combination paid-volunteer department. I had been honing my photography skills, working for the town newspaper on a part-time basis and then as my bones started to give me trouble, for the fire department, as going into burning buildings dragging hose was becoming more and more difficult. th joint dislocations requiring multiple surgeries and for this reason retired from nursing and the fire dept. only recently.
Photography and writing have been my most recent vocations. I wrote a 125 year history of the Millburn Fire Department and co-wrote a revision/update of the history book celebrating Millburn's Sesquicentennial (150th). I help coordinate and archive the collection at Millburn's Hstorical Society Museum and am a trustee at the same location.
Photography is my love and I spend much time documenting nature, birds in particular and bicycle racing as my husband, Bruce, a retired Fire Captain is an avid time trialer. My felines are also a love of mine and my subjects for much of my image capturing.
