Elizabeth's Story

I am Elizabeth Cason Moultrie. Wow! Where have I been for the past 30 years?? Well, I left Saint Matthews in the early 1990s and moved to Columbia. I worked at Comprehensive Rehabilitation for a few years and then moved back to Greenville where I worked as a Paralegal. I met my wonderful husband in 1997 and moved back to Columbia and worked as the lead paralegal for a prestigious law firm, handling all asbestos litigation files, as well as other personal injury, wrongful death and medical malpractice cases. I love being a Paralegal. My husband and I decided that we wanted to homeschool our two youngest children, so I now work from home as a freelance Paralegal while homeschooling Hannah and Abigail. We own a small farm in Lexington County where we all work hard raising row crops and rabbits. We also have four lovely dogs, two cats, 2 exotic birds, a white rat, a rooster, four hens, two pond turtles, an alligator snapping turtle, and some goldfish! My husband teaches at Dreher High School and has aspiration to be South Carolina's Superintendent of Education. He would be a great one and would, I think, solve many of the problems with public education. I'd love to get in touch with some of the folks in my class at Calhoun Academy. That would be great fun to see where everyone is now! I always wanted to be an actress when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a terrible idea. As it turns out, they were wasting time worrying about it. I became a Paralegal, instead, and love it!. My oldest friend now is my husband Tim. We are very best friends. I'm not s...Expand for more
ure why we clicked; we just did. Within an hour of meeting, we could finish each other's sentences. We've been inseparable since we met. We have two beautiful girls together and my daughter from my previous marriage -- who has given us two gorgeous grandchildren! My first job was at Calhoun Pharmacy, where I got paid cash to wrap Christmas gifts. What I remember most about it is how nice Dr. Wilkes and Diane were. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Sam Arant, because he was my first true love and we stayed in touch until about ten years ago.. If I won $100 million, I'd give a million of it to save wild horses, then spend the rest on my mortage, my student loans and my children's secondary education and advanced degrees. My current age is 46. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old, inactive and boring. I was so completely wrong. My best friend would tell you I'm loyal, but very shy, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as stand-offish. I'm really just very shy and insecure. I still wear blue jeans, cheese cloth shirts, t-shirts, long skirts and "stupid" shoes (clogs). I share my home with m husband, two or my shildren, two exotic birds, a white rat, an alligator snapping turtle, two pond turtles, six gold fish and a beat, which I find extremely wild and interesting . In 10 years, I hope to be maintaining my life. I'm going to get there by working hard.. I'll never forget sitting on the lawn at Calhoun Academy, watching a yellow jacket flying toward me and feeling it sting me in the eye. Ouch!
