Elizabeth's Story
Life
I got married to Charles Rambo on Dec 26 1971, and have two children and five grand children. I enjoy working with my crafts. . On July 2, 2007 I did retire from the USPS, after suffering a bout of Leukemia. Our son is married and lives in the Tri-City WA area. Our daughter lives in Spokane WA Valley with four children. After retirement I plan to stay in the area and work around our yard, remodel the house and just plain keep busy. I am a survivor.
I always wanted to be a postal worker when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right.
When I need to relax I just sit back and work on crafts or jig saw puzzles.
I was born in Livingston MT and moved to Spokane WA where Dad worked for Kaiser Aluminum. After several years of working there we moved back to Livingston where he worked for the municipal water department. Due to lay offs we moved to McClure VA to operate a store for my aunt. That is where I started high school. Due to my fathers health we then moved back to Spokane to be near doctors and his parents. I lived in Spokane or Spokane valley area until I moved to Touchet WA. I moved to Touchet because my job brought me here. My husband had transferred to the Tri-Cities with his job and I needed to transfer close with my job. There I stayed until retirement a...Expand for more
nd into the present.
The biggest surprise I received was just as I was filling out the paper work for retirement my doctor informed me that I had leukemia. I have completed treatment and had a stem cell transplant , thanks to my sister, and now in remission.
I have been busy with remodeling our home, and that has been a challenge at times. We are doing one room at a time so that it in not over whelming. Other things I have been working on is Quilts. I have made them for every one of the kids and grand kids. I , also, get together with some of the women in the community to play cards during with week.
On Oct 23 2016 our lives were changed due to an accident I was involved in. I was riding my Metropolitan scooter when I hit a dog broadside. I was taken to Walla Walla where the doctors there told the family that I wouldn't make it through the night, so was then flown to Harbor View where after 23 surgeries and 2 months in ICU, the 1 month in ICU Post Falls and;1 month back in Walla Walla for rehab therapy. As a result of all this the family talked me into moving. April 2017 we made to move to the Affinity Apartments in Kennewick Southridge.
I have learned that no matter how old your kids get they still look to Dad and Mom for support.
Now it is our turn to look to them for support.
We now have 1 Great Grandson in Spokane.
