Elizabeth's Story
After graduating from FHS in 69, I went to Saint Francis College in Loretta, PA, majoring in History. Took off for 11 weeks and with a couple of good college buds, went to Europe, traveled to England, Ireland, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Holland, Austria, Switzerland, and Netherlands. When I was all tuckered out, I joined the Navy. No, I wasn't crazy, I just decided to have a real adventure! SO, for 20 years, I traveled the world, doing Uncle Sam's work [well, actually is was cousin John Paul Jones' work], managing to get to Japan, Okinawa, Philippines, Hawaii, San Francisco, London, and Washington D.C. When I retired in 1993, I enrolled in Marymount University, and received a Masters in Education/ESL. There is a great need in the D.C. metropolitan area [of which Fairfax County belongs, where I live in Virginia] because the immigrant population is very large. rn children Ben, Kate, and Meghan.
I always wanted to be a historian when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were half right. I majored in History at SFC, then Europe and the USNavy.
I READ, WATCH TV, MOVIES, AND HGTV.
Without a doubt, the biggest, life changing event was when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis [MS]in 1981. I was living and working in Virgina/Norfolk naval base. The military has been taking good care of me since the very beginning. I finally had to give up my car [my kids were very happy to take it off my hands!] And then in 2004 I went to a wheelchair, and that's where I am today. Which explain why my very best friend is my amazing and loving husband, Lee. He likes movies, movies, and movies like me. Like me, he also likes to travel. While in the Navy we went everywhere ; Korea, Japan, Phillippines, Hawaii and most of the islands, Tahiti, and now London and Germany are in our sight. Traveling is a wonderful experience for us.
