Elizabeth's Story
Life
After high school, I worked full time and attended a year at Valencia. I decided that working full time and doing school was too much. I opted to drop school for the time being and just enjoy myself. I partied for 2 years and then settled into real life. In 1996, I got pregnant with what would have been my first child but ended up having a miscarriage because I was working too hard. I got pregnant again later that year and gave birth to my first son,Damian, in 1997 with my best friend Brian Johnson from high school in attendance. Brian was dead by June of that year something that shook me very badly. I still miss him!! My fiance at that time worked full time, while I went to school full time and stayed home with my son. I graduated college in 1999 with my Associates in Business Administration and Management with certificates in Marketing and Small Business Management. In December of 2000, I became pregnant with my daughter, Deirdre. It percipitated the break-up of my fiance and I. It was while I was pregnant the I met my fiance and absolute partner, Joe Cherma...Expand for more
k. He was there in the delivery room when Dee was born in September of 2001 after only knowing me for 4 months. He proposed to me while I was still pregnant. We moved to Minnesota in January of 2002 where we have lived and worked for the last 3 years. Our son, Julian, was born in June of 2003. In December of 2004 after much discussion and planning, we decided to move to the state of New York. For both Joe and I it was a kind of homecoming. Joe grew up in Poughkeepsie and I summered in Glens Falls. In February of 2005, we flew to New York and stayed with relatives while we searched for tentative jobs and found the house we later rented for 2 years. We drove to New York from Minnesota the last week of March and officially took up tenancy in April. In December of that year, Joe and I found a lovely trailer that we could afford and moved our family down into Glens Falls ironically in the same park that my aunt and uncle used to live. Damian is in second grade and doing very well and our daughter, Deirdre, starts kindergarten in September. Julian will be three this summer.
